In as much that coffee is one of the most consumed beverages around the world, health experts have warned mothers who are expecting babies to limit the intake of caffeine.

Two studies done in 2008 on the effect of caffeine linked to miscarriage showed two different results. One of the results reviewed that women who drink 200 mg or more caffeine daily are more likely to have miscarriage unlike those who do not consume caffeine.

The second result showed women who drink 200 mg to 350 mg coffee per day do not have a miscarriage, but to be on a safer side and also the conflicting results, health professionals advise pregnant mothers to reduce the consumption of coffee.

Most individuals who consume coffee knows the health benefit of caffeine in their body, caffeine has an effect on energy level and focus.

Even though caffeine has a good health benefit, they are some negative effect it has on pregnant women.

Caffeine has good benefits in the human body but there are concerns that it may be harmful to pregnant mothers.

Metabolizing of caffeine is slow in pregnant women, it takes 1.5-3.5 times longer to eliminate caffeine from the body, caffeine can also enter the placenta and find its way into the baby bloodstream, which is highly alarming that it may affect the child’s health.

American College of Obstetricians Gynecologists reports that low intake of caffeine may not increase the risk of miscarriage or preterm birth but some research suggests that intake of a higher amount of caffeine may increase the chance of miscarriage.
